Buyer indirect spend

Synres is a new, growing company in the Coating Resins Industry, and was until 2015 part of DSM Resins. The Production location in Hoek van Holland produces a full range of solvent-borne alkyd, acrylic, thixotropic resins and additives.

We are looking for a Buyer indirect spend

Job Purpose

The focus for the Buyer is on capturing all Indirect spend for the location.

Purchasing is a functional job under the leadership of the Operations Director. Its mission is to connect customer needs with supplier solutions. With in-depth knowledge of supply markets and close collaboration with our businesses and suppliers. Purchasing brings supplier capabilities to Synres in an efficient and transparent way. Strong supplier partnerships and a detailed knowledge of the supply base are important drivers in the value creation for the growth of Synres.

The spend area Indirect Goods & Services covers the most diverse range of purchasing needs for Synres that are not directly processed in our products (Facility Goods & Services, ICT, Physical Distribution, Technical Goods & Services).

Key areas of accountability/responsibility 

1. To capture all Indirect spend for Synres and define the relevant approach, aligned with the purchasing plan, to serve his customers: using contracts, spot buying.

2. Implement the strategy for the Indirect Spend

• Collect and manage internal customers feedback on the purchasing process to identify further  reduction opportunities;
• Prepare and lead fact based negotiation and supplier selection;
• Lead contract implementation and resolve issues; 
• Evaluate and renew contracts by identifying and prioritizing opportunities for reduction of Total Cost of Ownership (TCO).

3. Develop and manage relationship with key suppliers and track their performance

• Establish relationship with key suppliers;
• Initiate and conduct key supplier audits;
• Identify potential contract improvement opportunities & re-negotiations to secure key elements (SHE, security of supply, competitiveness, quality/compliance, sustainability, innovation/technical improvements, business commitment).

Location: Hoek van Holland

Knowledge and education

• Master level, preferably in business administration, commerce, engineering or other relevant discipline
• In-depth knowledge of Indirect Spend in terms of business dynamics, markets, innovation requirements and growth opportunities
• Proven affinity with technical and facility goods and services
• Purchasing qualifications (e.g. Nevi)

Required level of experiences

• Substantial professional experience in Purchasing (5 years), or commercial background, experience in a technical environment  is a must
• Familiar with working in cross functional and international project environment
• Being proactive, self-starter, and ability to engage & influence people
• Ability to initiate change, ensure early involvement and being seen as first point of contact for purchasing
• Experience in a production environment, sourcing and purchasing mechanical equipment and MRO – in close cooperation with plant engineers;
• Experience in a B2B environment with purchasing of Facility Goods & Services and Technical Goods & Services.
• Excellent Dutch and English language skills, speaking & writing.
